Sudden Life Changes
Sudden life changes can be tough for us to understand and respond to. We might feel like our bodies and minds are moving in different directions, experiencing shock in unique ways such as anger or numbness.
Grieving shows how much we care about our losses and encourages reflection on what truly matters. Within our community, we connect by asking, "How are you coping?"
We know coping varies, with some healthy methods and others not so much. Change is life's only constant, and accepting unpredictability can help us embrace our emotions. When life doesn’t go as planned, our anger and sadness are valid, and expressing these feelings safely is crucial.
We can't control everything, but we can control our responses. It's important for us to resist the urge to carry on “business as usual” after a shock.
Let's be gentle with ourselves by focusing on essentials like healthy eating and rest, while avoiding overcommitment. This may be a time for us to say “no” and simplify.
Grief remains as emotional shock fades. We honor those we’ve lost by living with integrity and accountability. Honesty with ourselves and others helps us connect with loved ones who support us. When mistakes happen, we strive to make things right by asking how we can improve.
Focusing on living authentically reduces worry about the small stuff, knowing we are doing our best.
